Last Friday morning the “Banana Boat” singer and well-known Castro supporter, Harry Belafonte, was scheduled to do a slew of interviews to promote his new book titled, My Song. I don’t believe that daylight had quite come yet, but Belafonte was ready to go home to crawl into bed.
The interview with television station KBLAK was scheduled for that morning, but it never took place. Once the screen split to reveal Belafonte via satellite it showed him asleep in his chair. He was not just asleep, he seemed to have been deep asleep. The interviewer tried to get him to wake, but Belafonte would not budge. He never even got to mention his new book or anything.
The news crew gave him a break saying that he probably had multiple interviews already that morning and was taking a little nap. As far as not being able to wake up, they think there was probably some technical issues that made him unable to hear them. Who knows what was going on, but it sure does warrant a good laugh or two. So, let’s all have a laugh at Harry Belafonte’s expense.
